This song (which is a complete work of fiction) was inspired by yet another song title suggested by a friend (cf. “Scratches on the Hood,” BoW 09). This time it was Rick Wright, who lobbed “I Summer in Albuquerque” at me, probably never suspecting I would take up that gauntlet. But take it up I did, and this sad, Carver-esque (no? OK, never mind) tale is the result.
